Purple-rumped Sunbird Leptocoma zeylonica

Key Features The purple sunbird is a very active, tiny bird.Males have deep brownish maroon upper body and a bright yellow belly and white sides. Metallic hues on head and neck are visible under good lighting.Female birds are dull grey brown above,ashy white neck,yellow belly and white sides.
Found all over southern India spreading north into central India, extending west into Gujarat and east into Assam.Missing from northern India. It adorns not only forests but also urban gardens.
